Ή και όχι, keep walking.)

AN/AWG-10
In 1963 Westinghouse was awarded a US Navy contract for the AN/AWG-10 to provide fire control for guns and Raytheon AIM-7 Sparrow and Raytheon AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles on the F-4B Phantom II. The first radars were delivered in 1966 and became standard equipment. The AN/AWG-10 was claimed to be the first interceptor radar to feature transistorised circuitry. During 1966 the US Navy announced a look-down requirement for its F-4s and the AN/AWG-10 became the first multimode radar with pulse Doppler look-down capabilities and a comprehensive built-in test system. In the AN/AWG-10A A digital computer was added for the more effective solution of launch equations, for example target manoeuvring information was included. A servoed optical sight display was also added and these modifications permitted the full range of air-to-ground ordnance to be exploited. The success of the AN/AWG-10A computer led to its procurement by the US Air Force for the APQ-120 radar in the F-4E Phantom II to provide computer-aided target acquisition. The German Air Force, in a programme known as Peace Rhine, also procured the computer to upgrade its F-4F Phantom II Phantoms. The updated F-4S Phantom II was fitted with an improved AN/AWG-10B set.
AN/AWG-11
Ferranti license built version of the AN/AWG-10 for the FG.1 Phantom II. Differed from the American-built version mainly in having a radar dish which could be swung sideways in order to reduce the aircraft's length to 54 feet so that it could fit on the small deck lifts of British carriers.
AN/AWG-12
Ferranti license built version of the AN/AWG-10 for the FGR.2 Phantom II.
AN/AWG-14
Designation for AN/AWG-10 with digital computer.
F-4J
Designation for 552 new built aiframes, based on the F-4B, with improved smokeless J79-GE-10A turbojets, new AN/AWG-10 radar and improved wings with drooping ailerons and slotted tailplanes. Weapon delivery was greatly improved by the AN/AJB-7 Low Altitude Bombing System which provided substantially better ground attack capability over the Lear AN/AJB-3 fitted to the F-4B. The AN/AAA-4 infra-red sensor was finally removed. The three YF-4J prototypes were modified F-4B models. Submodels include the EF-4J (EW-trainer), QF-4J (target drone) and F-4J(UK) (designation for 15 F-4J transferred to the Royal Air Force).

VTAS - (Visual Target Acquisition System) In later versions, VTAS was implemented. The pilot wore a special helmet with four IR transmitters on it, and there were IR receivers mounted around the pilot's cockpit. The pilot's helmet had a reticle; he would extend it over his right eye, and look at the target while pressing half-action on the acquisition switch on his stick. The radar would sweep out in range, and acquire the target. As far as I can remember, this only worked in 10-mile range, or "short pulse". But, like I said - it's been a long time since I've worked on them.

Αλήθεια, πότε θα σε δω πάνω, να κεράσω κι ένα καφεδάκι στο Ημίωρο;
