i was going to ask you about Omirus odysseyWild Angel έγραψε:Actualy, all our primary studies in litterature are based on Greek Roman mythology. The first complete bbok i have ever analysed in college being the odyssey.
Then come trojans wars, legends and myth.
That's exactly what happened with Greek. Nowadays, the Greek language is a diminished form of the ancient one.eutoposWildcat έγραψε:Yeah, just nice!
We sometimes compare Latin and Italian, it is very surprising how much the two languages sound close when you try to correctly pronounce Latin
I had read Omirus Odyssey and I know Iliada but I never read it. And I know some Greek philosophers : Platon, Aristote... In college we study Greek mythology too.Anzac έγραψε:i was going to ask you about Omirus odysseyWild Angel έγραψε:Actualy, all our primary studies in litterature are based on Greek Roman mythology. also Omirus has wrote "Iliada" (if i write it correctly in english)
Greece had also very very famous filosophers ! doctors , etc ....
sometimes its tragic, cause there are people from europe or elsewhere, that knows greek history better than we do
perhaps, if its your country's history you dont give such attention to it
The Peloponnesus War by Thucydide (I do not know the right writing of his name in English or Greek, sorry ) is also a very good reading, that really made me think that ancient Greeks were very similar to us. Men are men and will probably ever be the same, in a wayAt present I read about "Alexandrou anavasis" (can't really translate it, something like Alexander's campaign), written by Arrianos about 180 A.C. Really fascinating...
