Anzac has spoken about a Mirage 2000-5 mk5 with Famas.
What is this program?
We haven't heard anything about it in France.
We know Mirage 2000-5F, -5Mk2, -9, -10(don't search what it is, you'll se on cinema ), but nothing about -5Mk5. (miss Mk3 and Mk4 )
can anyone from eHAF inform our fellows about the MK5 planes in EAB , the problems we are trying to solve with the radars and the exact version of that planes?
also if i an not wrong we have some m2k for upgrade, right ?
The French built 15 Mirage2000-5 mk.II are ready (5 two-seat, 10 one-seat). HAI (Hellenic Aerospace Industry) would upgrade 10 existing Mirage2000EGB/BGM to the -5 mk.II standard. So, in total there would be 15+10= 25 Mirage2000-5 mk.II (+ option of 5 to 8 a/c).
The first french prototype (505, two seat) arrived in Andravida-Greece in May 2004 and the first series of tests took place in July 2004 and finished in August 2004. The Greek test team was more than pleased with the performance of the radar and the a/c as a whole, but there were some problems to be issued regarding the EW suite (ICMS.Mk3).
Because of those problems, HAI has upgraded 5 a/c and refrains from following the schedule until the remaining issues be resolved.
The French government along with Dassault provided assurances that the ICMS problem will be resolved by April 2006.
The Greek government has to choose between two options. Either accept the a/c now, without the EW suite and install it after April 2006, or accept the 25 a/c after April 2006 when the ICMS will be retested.
