Snowbirds crash eyewitness

We contacted Greg Dart, an eyewitness to the crash. He told us his story. "I left school today to pick my kids up and we were driving through town and we noticed the Snowbirds were practicing. So, we just drove out to watch...and it actually looked like they had completed their practice. They came back in a couple of groups of three and a couple of solos. My kids were watching a group right overhead that were doing a loop and as they started to come out of the loop my son said 'here they come again, Dad' and as I turned a looked, they were basically coming right at us at kind of a 45 degree angle," Dart explained.
Dart says he's not exactly sure what happened, but it happened suddenly. "It seemed that of the three planes, the front two split and as they split, the plane behind them or, maybe it was slightly above them, just kind of raised up, dipped one wing and then just went down right away. I mean, it was so fast that I betcha it took less than a second-and-a-half. It was an immediate drop and the impact was just a really dull thud. I never saw flames, all I saw was just a big, huge, black cloud of smoke...we actually felt the concussion of the impact from where we were at," Dart said.
Dart added he did not see a parachute deployed. He says emergency crews were on the scene very quickly.
